Natasha Newton | Artist & Illustrator
I’m an artist making original paintings inspired by the forests, landscapes, and nature of the UK. I work from my home studio with beautiful views across the North Downs and surrounding countryside. Strongly influenced by folk art and book illustration, my work ranges from small watercolour and gouache paintings on paper to large-scale acrylics on canvas. I’m fascinated by the textures and patterns found in nature and tend to favour a palette of muted, dark, and earthy colours. You’ll often see a small house or two nestled within my landscapes; these represent a place of comfort and safety, with a puff of chimney smoke indicating that there's someone at home.
Since the autumn of 2024, I’ve been experimenting with needlework, translating the style and motifs in my original artwork to stitched pieces. You can find a few examples of my needlework on the website, with more to come!
Earlier in my career, I illustrated book covers and magazine articles and also exhibited with numerous galleries, both in the UK and overseas. I’ve now decided to concentrate entirely on my personal work, selling paintings and prints directly to collectors exclusively through my shop. This allows me the freedom to create on my own terms, and as a result, I've been able to experiment and evolve my work. I release a new collection every few months, so please join the mailing list if you'd like to receive a notification when this happens.
I share an in-depth look at my art practice and the materials I use on the membership platform Patreon, and you can also find me on YouTube, Instagram, and Substack.
